Who is Doctor Victor
Dr. Victor Hong is an orthopedic surgeon with specialized fellowship training in foot and ankle care. He is passionate about helping patients regain movement and reduce pain—an interest that stems from his own personal journey with orthopedic injuries. Throughout his life, Dr. Hong has faced multiple foot and ankle issues, including chronic plantar fasciitis during his time in the military, repeated ankle sprains and arthritis in his big toe from playing soccer, as well as Morton’s neuroma and Tailor’s bunion during his medical training. These experiences have shaped his empathetic approach to patient care and reinforced his belief in starting with conservative treatments before considering surgical options.
Originally from South Korea and raised in Tennessee, Dr. Hong earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a biomedical focus from Southern Adventist University, supported by both academic and music scholarships. He went on to graduate with honors from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Hong completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California, where he served as chief resident at two major Level I trauma hospitals. He further specialized by completing a foot and ankle fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, gaining in-depth expertise in minimally invasive procedures, arthroscopy, and complex reconstructive surgeries.
Dr. Hong is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society. He remains deeply committed to academic advancement through ongoing research, authorship of review articles and textbook chapters, and participation in discussions addressing current controversies in foot and ankle surgery. He also serves as a reviewer for Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics.
When he's not in the operating room or clinic, Dr. Hong enjoys staying active through soccer, beach volleyball, road trips, calisthenics, and weightlifting. His dual perspective as both a physician and a former patient allows him to connect with individuals on a deeper level—especially those eager to get back to the sports and activities they love.
